Market Spotlight: OHSU Farmers Market

How long have you been a market manager? Since the beginning of our market in 2007.
What made you interested in managing a market? Farmers markets are the most deliciously nourishing places to be. They are colorful and full of smiling faces, help build community, offer the best food in the world, support the local economy and are made possible by local farmers, my heroes. To get paid to be there? Um, yes!
How did you pick your location? It’s pretty, easy to unload, some parking nearby for vendors and fairly central on our campus.
How many vendors are in your market? about 22-30.
What kinds of things did you struggle with at first, that have worked themselves out by now? Getting support from all of the various players that we need to participate in order for the market to be a success.. parking, landscaping, events and getting people to come! Now we have tons of support and it has become a popular event every week on campus.
